Description: The Paralegal provides support for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Office of the Chief Counsel (OCC). This position requires an energized, detail-oriented, and organized individual who is responsible for managing scheduling, client contact, office management, calendar, caseload, and correspondence. Essential duties and responsibilities for the position include the following: Assist attorneys with drafting and preparing litigation documents, including discovery requests, responses, subpoenas, and briefs. Drafts complaints, affidavits, interrogatories, proofs of claim, and motions for attorney review; and prepares/handles service of process on complaints. Corresponds with local and outside counsel concerning case status. Assists legal staff in carrying out the various activities of the Office of the Chief Counsel. Maintains confidentiality of audit workpapers, coal company and/or beneficiary information. Proven ability to consistently deliver timely and high-quality work while handling multiple concurrent assignments and working simultaneously with several counsels. Provide litigation support to attorneys. Use of discretion and professional judgment to refer to matters or questions requiring. Ability to research assigned issues, using existing legal files and alternative sources, and ability to analyze and synthesize legal and other information and present results clearly and concisely. Schedule client meetings and respond to client inquiries. Organize and present exhibits for depositions, review and label discovery documents Upkeep and manage the law library. Proven ability to deal sensitively in multicultural environments, build effective working relationships, and get along with clients and colleagues. Well-developed legal document drafting and editing skills, in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of legal processes, procedures, and terminology for review, analysis, preparation, and processing of legal documents. Requirements: U.S. citizenship Bachelor’s degree; Paralegal certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two or more years of relevant paralegal experience. Able to obtain a Federal Government Clearance. Knowledgeable of Microsoft suite tools (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Work Environment: This position is performed onsite at a Federal Government facility where both safety and security protocols are paramount.
