AV Engineer
Overview
In this role you will ensure AV systems in high-impact venues stay reliable and event-ready. You will work within a cross-functional team to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex AV environments, from control systems to projection and lighting. You will contribute to pre-event readiness, on-site support during events, and post-event documentation to prevent recurring issues. This position offers the opportunity to shape service quality and documentation standards across specialty spaces while supporting critical events and experiences.
ResponsibilitiesHands-on troubleshooting and remediation for AV issues across event spaces and specialty roomsRespond to escalated incidents requiring field engineering support (audio, video, control, routing, conferencing, projection, lighting, signal path)Diagnostics using onsite tools and remote access across macOS, Windows, Linux, AV control, and networked devicesDocument symptoms, actions taken, root cause indicators, and follow-up needs in ticketing systemEscalate unresolved or high-impact issues to Lead Field EngineerComplete equipment sweeps before priority events to verify critical systemsSupport event operations techs with technical issues before/during/after eventsParticipate in User Acceptance Testing for new spaces to validate readiness and handoverPerform scheduled preventative maintenance on AV hardware, software, cabling, routing, control systems, and room peripheralsIdentify degradation, aging equipment, and risks before they impact eventsSupport changes, firmware updates, configuration updates, and equipment upgradesMaintain reliable standards through checks, reporting and follow-throughOrganise and track spare equipment inventory for rapid break/fixManage RMAs and equipment movement with status updatesCreate and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, known issue recordsTrack incidents and data to identify trends and remediation opportunitiesCoordinate with AV engineering, operations, and vendors to resolve systemic issuesFollow escalation process with Lead Field Engineer for triage and prioritisationTrain operations team on system usage and failure modesSupport continuous improvement of maintenance workflows and service documentation
Key requirements3-5 years of experience in AV field engineering, event technology support, or related areasStrong troubleshooting across AV control systems, DSPs, signal routing, conferencing, projection, displays, lighting, cabling, and networked AV devicesExperience supporting live events, executive meetings, or time-sensitive environmentsExcellent communication, organization, and time management skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with AV operations, engineering, vendors, and internal stakeholdersWillingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel as requiredExcellent communicationOrganisation and time managementCustomer interactionAV control systemsDSPs and signal routingConferencing platforms
