Senior Project Engineer – Environmental Remediation
Full‑Time | Irvine, CA (Hybrid / Onsite)
Compensation: $175,000 – $184,000 base salary
About the Opportunity
We are supporting an employee‑owned environmental consulting firm that is expanding its Environmental practice in Southern California. This organization partners with public and private clients to solve complex environmental challenges related to investigation, remediation, and redevelopment.
This Senior Project Engineer role is designed for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys owning projects, mentoring teams, and building trusted client relationships—not just executing tasks. You’ll play a visible role in delivering high‑impact projects while helping shape the growth of the practice.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
In this role, you will act as a technical and project leadership resource across a range of environmental investigation and remediation efforts. Responsibilities include:
Taking ownership of environmental projects from planning through construction and close‑out
Leading and coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams, including engineers, geologists, scientists, and subcontractors
Reviewing, preparing, and approving technical reports, memoranda, and data deliverables
Managing project scope, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
Serving as a primary point of contact for clients, regulators, and external stakeholders
Supporting proposal development, client interviews, and contract discussions
Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid‑level staff
Contributing to business development activities and long‑term client relationships
Participating in professional organizations, committees, or technical presentations
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or Hydrogeology
10–15 years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation projects
California PE or PG license, or the ability to obtain licensure shortly after hire
Strong technical writing and report review capabilities
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and quality control processes
Ability to delegate work, mentor team members, and oversee technical execution
Valid driver’s license
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
Master’s degree in a related discipline
OSHA HAZWOPER training (or willingness to obtain)
Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and redevelopment stakeholders

Combination of office, field, and client‑facing work
Ability to obtain medical clearance for work at hazardous waste sites
Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work extended days when required
Frequent interaction with project teams and stakeholders
Occasional overnight travel (up to ~20%) for site visits or client meetings

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $184000.00/yr.
