The Carpenter II (Shop) is an experienced shop carpenter with a strong eye for quality. Reports to: Shop Manager Position Summary FLSA Class: Hourly Non-Exempt The Carpenter II is a self-sufficient carpenter responsible for self-performing fabrication and installation of casework, millwork, and furniture, as directed by the Shop Manager in our fast-paced high end cabinet shop. This person is comfortable interacting with clients and understands that client satisfaction for each job is paramount. Due to the varied nature of the position, they may also be asked to perform and lead various construction tasks beyond shop carpentry and site installations, scaled appropriately to the experience level possessed in the field. Jobs To Be Done Review shop fabrication drawings for accuracy. Cutlist projects. Lumber milling including plywood and hardwood. Casework fabrication and installation. Millwork and furniture fabrication and installation. Perform and complete tasks assigned by supervisors. Delegate appropriate tasks within assigned projects to less experienced team members when working collaboratively. Ensure quality control for work self-performed or supervised. Complete projects within budget targets. Manage time across multiple projects. Bring unique design concepts to fruition through creative thinking and collaboration with all stakeholders. Help maintain workplace safety, organization, cleanliness, and security at the jobsite and the shop. Basic equipment maintenance and tuning/setup. Experience & Requirements 3+ years of casework shop experience required or a combination of shop experience and equivalent relevant demonstrated experience. Well tooled - appropriate hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Knowledge of cabinet shop tools including proper setup, operation, and preventative maintenance. Knowledgeable and passionate about architecturally significant building and detailing. Experience in all phases of building in the field is preferred but not required. Working knowledge of materials, industry standard methods, and tools. Comfortable with email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and able to gain proficiency in other projectmanagement/scheduling software (Buildertrend). Detail-oriented approach to identify and proactively solve issues with quality solutions and techniques. Willingness to prioritize safety and obtain necessary certifications determined necessary by companymanagement and safety manager. Efficient time-management, on both a project and personal basis, via prioritization and delegation. Ability to read and understand shop drawings and communicate this information to others. Knowledge ofgeneral construction drawings is preferred. Willingness to work long days and/or overtime, when necessary. Flexibility to work a schedule that can occasionally include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends,depending on project need. Access to a vehicle capable of carrying tools and supplies, a valid driver’s license, and able to drive betweendesignated projects throughout the workday. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; sit for extended periods; bend at the waist; repetitivemotions; push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl; walk on uneven terrain; proficientmanual dexterity with both small and large objects; lift and/or move at least 50 pounds. Resiliency to withstand regular exposure to outside weather conditions, loud noises, tight spaces, highprecarious places, moving mechanical parts, power tools, risk of electrical shock as well as other inherent construction site risks.
