Nurse Technician - Our Lady of the Angels

Job DescriptionThe Nursing Tech performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Nursing Tech assists with patient bathing, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties that they have verified competencies in. Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision of the nurse.#CBResponsibilitiesPatient CareAssists in performing data collection (TPR/Blood pressure, pulse rates, weights, I&O, O2 sats, doppler pulses). Observes patients closely and reports observations/changes to the supervising nurse.Administers specific delegated treatments and application of over the counter medications as directed in the medical plan of care and according to hospital policy.Documents all elements of treatments delivered according to hospital policy.Gives appropriate care (personal hygiene, linen changes, assists with meals, elimination).Assists with transporting and mobility needs of patient.Anticipates needs of the patient and plans time to respond accordingly and in a minimum amount of time.QualityPerforms duties in accordance with established methods and techniques and in conformance with required competencies.Will receive, document, and transmit information accurately and in a timely manner.Keeps patient rooms and nursing station areas clean and orderly.Displays problem solving ability, initiative, good judgment, and proper use of resources.Is aware of behavioral/physiological changes of assigned patients and promptly reports changes to assigned nurse or charge nurse. Adapts care to the patients need and level of development.Adheres to instructions issued by supervising nurse and to established hospital routines and policies.Other duties as assignedPerforms other duties as assigned or requested.QualificationsMust be a Junior or Senior in an accredited nursing program or a recent Registered Nurse graduate who has not received results from the Nursing Board.
