Hearing Representative - Workers Compensation
Workers' Compensation Hearing Representative (1099 – Part-Time)
Join a Well-Established Applicant Workers' Compensation Firm
We are a family-owned California workers' compensation law firm that has proudly represented injured workers for more than 45 years. As our practice continues to grow and virtual court appearances have become the norm, we are looking for an experienced Workers' Compensation Hearing Representative to assist with approximately 1–5 hearings per week.
We understand that hearing representatives may be working for other firms.
Many of our hearings involve substantive issues and we are committed to ensuring every appearance is handled professionally and effectively.
As a Hearing Representative, you will appear before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (primarily through virtual court appearances) as an extension of our attorneys. Because we remain ethically and professionally responsible for every appearance, we do not expect you to review entire case files or determine litigation strategy on your own.
Instead, our attorneys will thoroughly prepare you for each appearance by providing:
A detailed summary of the case
The purpose and objectives of the hearing
Expected issues and potential responses
Settlement authority and negotiation parameters, when applicable
Clear instructions regarding what we are seeking from the appearance
Our goal is for you to walk into each hearing fully prepared and confident.
What We're Looking For
Prior experience as a California Workers' Compensation Hearing Representative
Comfortable appearing before Workers' Compensation Judges (WCJs)
Familiarity with EAMS and California workers' compensation procedures
Comfortable using Zoom and participating in virtual court hearings
Professional, dependable, and an excellent communicator
Ability to work independently while following litigation strategy provided by the firm
