Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Librarian Supervisor, purchases materials for the library collection, catalogs materials, and maintains the collection through inventory and weeding. With emphasis on teamwork, this position seeks input and provides information to various divisions within the department, as determined by the supervisor.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCompletes original and copy cataloging for a range of material types and for a range of ages Oversees the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of metadata across multiple discovery platforms and library systems including the use of applicable tools for manipulating dataCollaborates with the other library divisions to determine acquisition needs Partners with other library divisions on the cataloging, weeding, inventory, and maintenance of the library collectionMaintains records and holdings in local automated system; works with library team on software upgrades and maintenance of local automated systemProvides feedback and guidance on questions or issues with the ILS or library and archives holdings Pursues professional engagement for self through projects, publications, and attendance and participation in state and national conferences and meetings to connect best practices and emergent issues in library service developmentParticipates in library committees, working groups, and projectsStays up to date on new release materials for a variety of ages and interestsPurchases library materials in accordance with the Library Collection Development policyFollows policy, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsMaster's Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited programTwo (2) years of experience working in a library Preferred QualificationsOne (1) year of cataloging experienceProficiency with MARC/RDA languages, Worldcat, and OCLC Bilingual in English and SpanishThank you for your interest in the position.
