Working within an agile shared services team, this role helps enable stable infrastructure for applications and supports repeatable processes through automation of build, deployment, and proactive monitoring activities. The individual must understand emerging trends in hybrid cloud technologies and apply practical solutions to meet business needs.This position focuses on cloud technology and operations while also requiring knowledge of on-premise datacenter infrastructure. The role involves making technical recommendations, supporting project teams, and providing third-tier support for complex issues.The Cloud Engineer should have subject matter experience in at least two of the following areas: cloud computing, cloud storage, virtual networks, infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as Code), secure networking, and DevSecOps within an Azure or AWS environment.What will the employee do in this role?Establish, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure, systems hardware, operating systems, and related network and security components to ensure reliable operationsMonitor cloud platform maintenance and outages, assess impact, and develop strategies to minimize disruptionCollaborate with developers and agile teams on compute resource expansion and feature deployments while ensuring capacity planning is accurateBuild and automate cloud infrastructure using modern automation frameworks and templatesOptimize network infrastructure supporting IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS environmentsProduce and maintain documentation for installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of both cloud and on-prem infrastructureInvestigate connectivity, performance, and security issues to determine root cause and implement solutionsParticipate in designing and implementing hybrid cloud architecture roadmapsIntegrate cloud solutions into existing infrastructure and assist development teams with deploymentsCoordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to resolve infrastructure issuesParticipate in an on-call rotation and provide support outside standard working hours when requiredRequired qualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related fieldExperience5+ years of progressive experience in computing or network infrastructure3+ years of experience in a cloud environment, preferably Azure, as a cloud engineer, administrator, or DevOps professionalExperience designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructureExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management toolsExperience managing both on-prem infrastructure and cloud platforms (IaaS and PaaS), including virtual machines, networking, and automation toolsExperience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Puppet, Chef, or similarAbility to deploy infrastructure through automation and contribute to application architecture designExperience with monitoring tools and DevOps practicesExperience with load balancing platformsPreferred technologiesMicrosoft Windows Server environmentsCloud platforms such as Azure or AWSCloud security and monitoring toolsLinux / Unix systemsCisco routing and switching platformsPalo Alto or similar firewall technologiesCertifications (preferred)Microsoft certifications (MCSE or similar)Azure certificationsAWS certificationsCisco certifications (CCNA / CCNP)Key skills and abilitiesAbility to diagnose and resolve system and infrastructure issues independentlyStrong troubleshooting and performance tuning skillsCritical thinking and analytical problem solvingAbility to document and communicate technical findings clearlyStrong collaboration skills in a team environmentAbility to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong customer service and communication skillsInterested in hearing more?
