Process Engineer
*Position Summary*
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on *Process Engineer* with a background in materials science or mechanical engineering to support advanced surface treatment and coating operations. In this role, you will bridge the gap between R&D, engineering, and production—driving daily contract reviews, designing custom fixturing, troubleshooting vacuum furnace equipment, and ensuring rigorous quality compliance across AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP standards.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Master and apply advanced surface treatment and coating processes, focusing primarily on Cathodic Arc Physical Vapor Deposition (CAPVD) and Magnetron Sputtering Physical Vapor Deposition (MSPVD), with secondary exposure to Plasma Nitriding, Salt Bath Nitriding, Thermal Diffusion, and Heat Treating.
* Perform daily contract reviews on incoming jobs and generate accurate process instructions within the ERP system for the production team.
* Work hands-on on the production floor to assist staff with proper part setup inside furnaces.
* Design custom fixturing and masking solutions for specialized customer components.
* Collaborate with R&D teams to develop new processes and facilitate a seamless transition into full-scale production.
* Author and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions according to established document control standards.
* Review nonconformances (NCRs) alongside the engineering group to champion continuous improvement initiatives.
* Understand equipment functionality to support troubleshooting efforts and verify proper system operation.
* Read, interpret, and create blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and technical reports.
* Support quality assurance initiatives in achieving and maintaining NADCAP accreditation for applicable processes.
* Partner with the applications engineering team to evaluate the feasibility of new customer projects.
* Comply strictly with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards, internal quality policies, and OSHA safety regulations.
