Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Supervises the day-to-day operations of the shop, including job assignments for TechniciansConsults with manager to reach agreement on annual objectives, and carries out programs to meet these objectivesDevelops and manages annual shop budgetProvides adequate reports as needed for Sales, Engineering, and other areas of the companyInitiates and closes all shop work orders as necessary and ensures maintenance of all relevant files and dataMonitors and ensures Work In Progress (WIP) is being completed within specified time framesInsures that customers are informed of the progress of the WIP, receive and approve updated quotes, and that the invoice is an accurate reflection of the final quoteWorks closely with Manager in the development and implementation of policies pertaining to the production operationPlans short and long-term requirements on equipment and facilities, and makes recommendations to ManagerMaintains positive control on all house and service accountsAudits and follows correct procedures for expense accountsAudits and follows correct procedures for the procurement of tools and suppliesEnsures shop is maintained in a clean and safe mannerHandles and executes warranty in the best interest of the companyProvides and maintains safety equipmentOversees implementation of safety programs and safety trainingSets standards for and enforces contamination control effortsWhere applicable, establishes and maintains close relationships with Sales and Engineering personnel of Wagner Power Systems on projectsMaintains quality control over all projectsParticipates in emergency / on call rotation with other managersWorks closely with internal customers to ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost effective mannerMaintains knowledge and understanding of productsDesigns installation of, and purchases, equipment for accessories on some projectsWhere applicable, inspects and verifies functionality and serviceability for all projects and works with Engineering if changes are requiredOther duties as assigned by manager Required Education And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDSome college or trade school preferred8+ years in a responsible position within the heavy equipment service industry3+ years administrative/clerical5+ years customer service experience1+ years sales experience3+ years supervisory/management experienceSupervisory ResponsibilitiesDepending on location, may oversee some or all of the following: Journeyman, Class A, B, C Technicians and Welders, Shop Leads, Assistant Shop Manager, Service Clerks, Utility Workers, Inspector, Service Writers, and Senior ApprenticesHires, trains, and directs a working staff sufficient to efficiently perform the highest amount of service workProvides on-going performance feedback, and conducts timely special and annual performance reviews, making recommendations for status or salary adjustmentsEnsures service personnel coverage on weekends, holidays, and for emergency service workWorks with Wagner Training Institute to assess and meet training needs for employeesPhysical Demands & CompetenciesStanding, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearingData Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skillsSafety & Product KnowledgeAbility to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, etc.Medium work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 32 pounds or moreBasic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPointIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and ExcelIntermediate knowledge of DMS and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STWWork EnvironmentNoise: LoudIndoors and OutdoorsTravel RequirementsUp to 25%Other DutiesJob Offers are contingent upon all required pre-employment screenings which may include but are not limited to background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit for duty testing, and any other job-related tests/screenings.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
