Company: HQ for $11B global insurance brokeragePosition: Director of Revenue AccountingSalary: $200-$240k base salary plus 25% bonus target plus LTIP eligibleBenefits: Standard medical/dental/vision/401k including 15 PTO daysSchedule: HYBRID – On-site 2-3 days per week, flexible on the days.Location: Rolling Meadows, IL (near Woodfield Mall)Software: JD Edwards, Excel, Power BI, Sigma AI Apps PlatformIndustry: Insurance Brokerage, Financial ServicesRole Requirements & Ideal Candidate ProfileDeep technical accounting expertise in revenue recognition, serving as Subject Matter Expert for ASC 606, including advanced functional knowledge of the 5‑step ASC 606 modelStrong public accounting background, ideally Big 4, with a proven public/private mix of experienceTarget experience profile of ~10+ years total, typically ~5 years in public accounting and 5+ years in industry, preferably within insurance, financial services, consulting, or professional servicesProven senior leadership experience, with the ability to lead, develop, and train teams, particularly in ASC 606 application and revenue accounting best practicesExperience operating in a large, complex, public‑company corporate environmentGlobal scope responsibility, overseeing revenue accounting across North America (including Canada), the UK, and AustraliaStrong capability to evaluate, streamline, and improve processes, with a change‑management mindset and focus on scalability and efficiencyAbility to represent the Revenue Accounting function within Corporate Finance, partner cross‑functionally, and influence senior stakeholdersSolid understanding of SOX controls, internal control environments, and accounting system functionality, including active coordination with SOX and Internal Audit teamsExperience operating within a fast close environment (target 6‑day close), including navigating integrations related to acquisitionsHands‑on experience with JD Edwards or other integrated ERP/accounting systems (system flexibility acceptable)Comfortable working in and alongside analytics and reporting tools, including implementations such as Power BI and emerging AI‑enabled platforms (e.g., Sigma)Position Summary: Director - Revenue AccountingLooking for a Director - Revenue Accounting to lead the Revenue Recognition area within our US Accounting Center of Excellence. This includes oversight of the global month end close for our Brokerage segment’s revenue recognition processes. The position reports directly to the Corporate Controller.Responsibilities Include:Partner with divisional business finance leaders, external auditors and members of the corporate finance group on all aspects of revenue accounting.Lead the global revenue accounting team providing overall direction and coaching to ensure department and company goals are attained.Drive a culture of process improvement and automation related to the company’s revenue recognition process.Monitor and evaluate potential impact on the organization for changes in revenue recognition by continuously monitoring the changing landscape under ASC 606.Integrate acquired businesses to ensure compliance with Company’s ASC 606 accounting policies and integration with global systems and processes.Address technical accounting issues raised by divisional finance leaders and communicate accounting conclusions.Oversee SOX controls for the Brokerage segment’s revenue reporting process.Provide financial data extraction, insight, and analysis.Manage/monitor data integrity by performing problem identification and resolution of issues related to financial applications.Learn and become the expert in company systems supporting revenue recognition including JDE and business intelligence tools.Participate in testing applications relating to upgrades, system modifications and system conversions.Participate in SOX compliance audits, both internal and external. Other special projects.Required:Bachelor's Degree in AccountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA)Minimum 10 years related experience with 3+ years in public accountingGood working knowledge of accounting standards, particularly as it relates to the revenue recognition standard (ASC 606) and business combinationsExcellent verbal, written, computer, financial data, internal consulting, and customer-focused communication and presentation skillsStrong organizational skills with proven ability to follow through on multiple tasks and prioritiesWell-experienced with Microsoft suite of products; Advanced level skills in ExcelExperience in managing a teamPreferred:Good working knowledge of the insurance brokerage businessCompensation and benefitsOn top of a competitive salary, great teams and exciting career opportunities, we also offer a wide range of benefits.
