EHS Manager
Overview
Be part of the nation's only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Construction/Maintenance, Safety, & Health Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular safety & health inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
Provide training to employees on proper safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment
Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and assist management in implementing preventive measures
Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain site-specific safety plans
Knowledge of safety & health regulations and codes
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to analyze data and implement effective safety programs
Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
Review and analyze incident reports and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Monitor and evaluate subcontractors' safety performance and enforce compliance with safety requirements
Oversee the maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and ensure its availability and effectiveness
Stay up to date with new safety regulations and industry's best practices
Coordinate with external agencies during safety inspections and audits
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree plus fifteen (15) years of professional experience, or
Associate's degree with nineteen (19) years of professional experience, or
High School Diploma or equivalency with twenty-three (23) years of professional experience is required.
Proven experience in construction safety management
Must be 18 years of age.
Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site (even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge).
Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.

These benefits vary by position.
Exempt grade level(s) 36-38. Salary range: $134,030 to $237,594 per year – the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate's relevant experience and education.
