We are looking for someone who has a background in inspecting machined parts with hand metrology tools and CMM's, understands inspection, GD&T, and document control — and is also willing to step into production support when needed. Role Summary
The Machined Part Inspection / Quality Control / Production Support team member is responsible for ensuring that parts meet all drawing, customer, and quality requirements before they leave our facility.
You will own part inspection and documentation, support audits, work closely with machinists, and assist with broader shop operations as needed. This is a hands-on role in a regulated, high-expectation environment.
Primary Quality Responsibilities
Perform in process inspection and final inspection prior to shipment - including visual, dimensional, and fit/function checks
Use precision hand tools daily to verify dimension on machined components: Calipers / Height gages / Dial indicators / Bore gages / Go-NoGo gages / Thread gages. CMM - Optical Comparator - And Various Digital Measuring is a PLUS!
Execute First Article Inspections (FAI / AS9102-style)
Create and complete inspection reports and quality documentation
Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T callouts; verify that size, form, orientation, and position requirements are met.
Manage travelers, routers, and quality records
Maintain document control (revisions, release, retention)
Support AS9100 and customer audits
Identify, document, and track nonconformances
Train and support machinists on quality expectations and best practices
Quality ownership is non-negotiable in this role.
Production & Shop Support Responsibilities
In addition to quality ownership, you will assist with:
Operating CMMs (programming can be trained if needed)
Supporting machinists with in-process inspection
Purchasing support (POs, supplier coordination)
Shipping & receiving (incoming inspection, outgoing paperwork)
Packaging and final shipment preparation
ERP data entry and job closeout
Tool calibration tracking and gage management
Occasional light machine operation or shop support (deburr, simple ops)

Required Experience & Skills
2+ years of hands on experience inspecting machined parts, quality/document control, FAI and IPI experience (required)
Daily, practical use of inspection hand tools: calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, and basic gages (pin, thread, go/no-go)
Experience in a CNC machining / machine shop environment
Strong GD&T understanding
Experience with final inspection and FAIs
Proficiency in document control and quality records
Familiarity with regulated environments (ISO / AS / similar)
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Comfortable working directly on the shop floor
Preferred (But Trainable)
CMM operation experience
CMM programming exposure
ERP systems experience
Experience supporting audits
High-mix / low-volume manufacturing exposure
Schedule & Expectations
Primarily day shift, flexibility required
40–60 hours per week depending on workload

$80,000–$90,000 per year to start (DOE)
