Automotive Lot Porter
The Service department Automotive Porter/ Lot Attendant is responsible for performing a variety of duties as it relates to the maintenance and service of vehicles. This position interacts daily with the service advisors, service manager, technicians, parts staff, support staff and customers, just to name a few. The goal of a Porter is to ensure that our customers needs are met and to support our service staff in the common goal of excellent customer satisfaction. Responsibilities of the Porter Lot Attendant:
Leading yourself and the team in a way that supports our Company Vision and Mission
Install protective coverings in vehicle and ID tags, park vehicles in the lot
Remove vehicle protective coverings and ID tags prior to returning completed vehicle to customer
Inspect vehicles for stains, debris and damages before with the customer before checking into service. Note any specific comments from the customer
Clean interior and exterior of new and used vehicles
Keep vehicle lot neat and orderly, moving units as directed and in accordance with dealership display standards
Pick up vehicles from and deliver vehicles to storage
Maintains building and ground as needed (including snow removal)
Assist with shop clean-up and deliveries when needed
Removal and disposal of shop trash, tires, and scrap metal
Alignment checks on every vehicle possible that comes in for service
Assist with local shuttle operation or parts deliveries as needed
Valet pick up and delivery- pick up and drop off customer vehicles for service using loaner vehicles.
Bring cars up front or into the drive for customers at pick up times
Be able to set up Bluetooth and explain how to operate the navigation units for the customers if needed
Maintain loaner fleet, including parking, cleaning exterior, cleaning/sanitizing interior, topping off gas, and starting vehicles in the morning as needed for customer pick up. The porter is responsible for the checking in and out of all loaner vehicles, creating contracts with the customer and any pre-existing or new damages to the loaner vehicles.
Greet customers as they enter the drive in before they are directed to an advisor
This is not an exhaustive list as the lot porter is our "jack of all trades." The porter should be expected to be on standby during down time for service staff support and for things such as quality checks of vehicles (road tests), tire pressure checks, wiper blade replacement, etc.
Job Requirements:Skills/Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to handle machinery safely
Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
Demonstrated customer service skills
Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to operate an automobile
Positive attitude, can-do mentality, confident, outgoing personality eagerness to improve
Reliable transportation to and from work every single day
Professional attitude and the ability to deliver best-in-class customer service
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently
Requires standing for an extended period of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and / or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
Requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work a shift of 7am-3:30pm (half hour lunch)
