part ofAlbuquerque, NM 87108Job OverviewOur organization, in collaboration with the University of New Mexico (UNM) Cancer Center, is inviting applications for the role of Staff Physician within the growing Hematology/Oncology Section at the NMVAHCS. This program serves as the primary academic partner of the UNM Division of Hematology/Oncology and the UNM Cancer Center, which is recognized as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the NCI.The selected candidate will work closely with the leadership teams at both the Division and the Cancer Center at UNM. The Staff Physician will play a significant role in teaching within the Division, including involvement in its fellowship program. Applicants must possess an MD, a valid medical license, and be board-certified or eligible in Hematology and/or Oncology.We are looking for a candidate who qualifies for an academic appointment at UNM at the associate or full professor level, demonstrated by a robust history of clinical and academic achievements. Eligible candidates must meet the criteria for a faculty position in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico based on their qualifications and experience.Key Responsibilities:Provide high-quality patient care, emphasizing teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting.Conduct diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, and follow-up care for patients with hematological disorders or cancers.Engage in educational initiatives related to Hematology/Oncology and Internal Medicine, including quality assurance and chart reviews.Deliver didactic and bedside instruction.Oversee the training of medical students, residents, and Hematology/Oncology fellows.Actively participate in clinical trials and other scholarly endeavors.Comply with quality standards and measures.Promote academic and research collaborations within the Division of Hematology/Oncology.Qualifications:Completion of a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship from an ACGME-accredited program (final-year fellows may apply if they will complete their fellowship prior to starting this position).Eligibility or certification from ABIM in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.A demonstrated passion for teaching.A proven record of teaching excellence, including recognition from trainees or teaching awards.Engagement in scholarly activities, including research interests in clinical, translational, or basic science within Hematology or Oncology.Benefits Offered by the Department of Veteran Affairs:Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increments.Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off annually.Retirement: Traditional federal pension and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% by the VA.Insurance: Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care coverage.Licensure: One full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.CME: Annual reimbursement of $1,000 for continuing medical education.Malpractice Coverage: Liability protection with tail coverage included.Contractual Terms: No Physician Employment Contract and minimal restrictions on moonlighting.For further details about this exciting opportunity, we encourage you to apply or explore additional information on USAJOBS.Location:Email:Albuquerque, NM
