Preclinical Research Intern

As an Animal Surgeon, you will own every aspect of in vivo experimentation from surgical preparation through post-operative care and data collection. You are not executing someone else's protocol. You are helping design it. The work you do today will define the surgical approach for human-grade devices tomorrow.ResponsibilitiesPerform stereotaxic rodent brain surgeries for chronic neural implant studiesImplant and maintain electrophysiology probes (e.g., Neuropixels, Neuronexus) for acute and chronic recordingsPerform post-operative animal care and monitor implant stability over timeDesign and refine surgical protocols in close collaboration with the mechanical engineering teamMaintain detailed surgical logs and contribute to experimental documentationKey RequirementsB.S. or M.S. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or a related fieldDemonstrated hands-on rodent surgery experienceExperience with electrophysiology recording in vivoComfortable working independently in an early-stage environment with minimal supervisionPreferredHands-on rodent brain surgery experience (stereotaxic implantation, craniotomy)Hands-on experience with Neuropixels, Neuronexus, or equivalent high-density electrophysiology hardwareFamiliarity with closed-loop or real-time electrophysiology acquisition systems (Open Ephys, SpikeGLX, etc.)Familiarity with IACUC protocol compliance and maintain vivarium recordsCompensation & BenefitsSalary Negotiable Equity Negotiable Full Coverage Medical, Dental, Vision
