Sci Research ManagerThe Center for Personalized Health within the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Scientific Research Manager. The candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of research projects and collaborate with researchers to develop, execute, and interpret research projects. The Scientific Research Manager will perform complex laboratory and data collection techniques, including liquid handling, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing, and maintain the equipment for the Center for Personalized Health. Preference will be given to candidates with PhD in biomedical engineering, multiomics, spatial transcriptomics, or related field, as well as experience in next-generation sequencing and multiomics techniques, e.g., library preparation, 16S, metagenomic shotgun sequencing, RNAseq, single-cell sequencing, etc.Duties will include:Formulate and conduct scientific experiments and analyses. Perform complex data collection and laboratory techniques, including liquid handling, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing.Oversee and coordinate the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Center's equipment, instrumentation, and facilities; ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and infection control regulations and standards.Manage the PI's calendar; schedule appointments, events, and/or travel arrangements as required.Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement changes as needed. Review all coding of data for accuracy. Maintain participant data.Guide, train, and advise researchers, students, and volunteers on techniques, methods, and procedures.Collaborate with principal investigators and researchers to develop objectives and design of research projects and proposals.Maintain current knowledge of technological developments and trends in area of personalized health; identify current and future technology needs and introduce and establish innovative technology to directly support ongoing research activities.With the principal investigator, develop and write advanced, comprehensive experimental protocols.Contribute material, prepare results, and assist in the writing of research findings for publications, papers, presentations, grants, and other documents for publication.Assist principal investigator in grant and manuscript submission.Perform other duties as assigned.The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive department with a diverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide quality work in an organized, effective, and efficient manner through innovation, training, and education. Through our collaborative work effort, we support the faculty and enhance the missions of the department, school, Health Sciences Center, and University.See the Position Description for additional information.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.Preferred QualificationsExperience in formulating and conducting scientific experiments and analyses. Performing complex data collection and laboratory techniques, including liquid handling, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing.Experience in overseeing and coordinating the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment, instrumentation, and facilities.Experience reviewing all data entry for accuracy and maintaining participant data in compliance with HIPAA.Experience in team science, both as a mentor for trainees and other lab members, and in collaboration with the PI.Experience maintaining current knowledge of technological developments and implementing new technologies.Experience with contributing to manuscripts and contract/grant writing.Application InstructionsOnly applications submitted through the official UNMJobs site will be accepted.
