Systems Development Engineer
Overview
In this role you help raise the security bar across Amazon’s cloud, retail, and services by building scalable, secure systems and enriching customer trust. You will work closely with EU-based Operations and Software Development teams to deliver foundational security services and automate fixes for operational challenges. You’ll design and implement security features that broaden secure-by-default experiences at scale, while balancing busy on-call responsibilities with work-life harmony. This position offers growth through diverse projects, learning, and mentorship in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement secure, scalable security services for AWS cloud and Amazon Retail platformsWork with cross-functional teams to deploy automated security features and life-cycle security patternsSupport 24/7/365 operations, including on-call rotation every 4–6 weeksDevelop solutions to automate fixes for operational issues and improve user experience while maintaining securityContribute to building and improving secure-by-default services and access control mechanismsCollaborate on designing new security features and improving system reliability and scale
