Job Title: Associate Scientist InternLocation: Torrance, CA | OnsiteEmployment Type: Temporary | 6+ MonthsSchedule: Monday - Friday | 8:15 AM – 4:45 PMCompensation: $24.00 Per HourJob Summary:The Associate Scientist Intern supports product development activities related to advanced staining reagents used in IHC and ISH applications. This opportunity is ideal for college students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in a scientific and regulated laboratory environment. Responsibilities include assisting with regulatory documentation, organizing and reviewing technical records and Design History Files (DHFs), supporting IVDR transition activities, performing laboratory experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing technical summaries and reports. This role also supports quality system activities, maintains accurate documentation, and assists with product development and laboratory operations.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with internal teams to support project timelines, regulatory documentation updates, technical record maintenance, and management of tissue block inventory and vendor procurement activitiesCoordinate tissue section requests, support interdepartmental communication, transfer approved tissue slides to Quality Control, and assist with tissue specimen sectioning for research and testing activitiesSupport laboratory and research activities by preparing tissue specimens, assisting with protocol development, creating and re-embedding tissue blocks, and executing IHC and ISH experimental proceduresAssist with customer complaint investigations, perform laboratory analytical testing, support software and instrumentation testing activities, and prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and suppliesMaintain laboratory organization and equipment, coordinate with external collaborators regarding tissue samples, and provide project updates and review support to senior managementSupport product development activities by assisting with stability studies, investigating experimental results, collaborating cross-functionally, and preparing technical documentation and product transfer materialsSupport continuous improvement initiatives while helping ensure compliance with quality standards, FDA QSRs, ISO requirements, and environmental health and safety regulationsMaintain accurate laboratory documentation and communicate experimental results through written reports, verbal updates, and presentation materialsSupport cross-functional teams with additional duties as assigned while maintaining professional and proactive communication with supervisors and team membersQualificationsRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience0–2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated technical writing abilityKnowledge of biological sciences and scientific methodsEagerness to learn and develop new skillsBasic computer and clerical skillsAbility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high level of qualityStrong mathematical and analytical skillsKnowledge of biochemical techniques including IHC, ISH, antibody applications, spectrophotometry, bacterial culture, mammalian cell culture, DNA, RNA, PCR, and probe techniquesStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse teamsProficiency using EndNote for technical document citationPreferred:Previous GMP/GLP experience preferredWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistanceAbility to work in a laboratory environment on a frequent basisAbility to read and analyze information in both hard copy and electronic formatsAbility to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing work demandsStrong problem-solving, listening, and task management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with individuals and groupsAbility to sit frequently and occasionally stand, walk, reach, and use hands and fingers throughout the workday
