You will collaborate with the Superintendent to set a clear vision for pedagogyand provide teachers and school leaders with the resources and training necessary to improve academic outcomesacross the district and close the achievement gap. You will supervise teams across all of the district's academicprograms, including Early Childhood, ESL/Bilingual, Special Education, and College/Career Readiness.QualificationsEducation/Certification: Master's or Doctorate degree in Education Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, PublicPolicy/Administration, or related field; doctorate preferred Certification as a school administrator required; teaching experience preferred Candidate must hold and maintain a valid Texas educator certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills Expert knowledge of instruction & pedagogy (curriculum development, teacher coaching, student dataanalysis, etc.), along with an understanding of urban education and change management in complexsystems A commitment to equity; demonstrates a sense of urgency regarding closing the achievement gap anddriving equitable educational opportunities for all students Comfort in leading difficult conversations, guided by the best interests of students and families Integrity and clarity in all communications and interactions Strong problem-solving and project management skills, including strong organizational skills, attention todetail, and the ability to balance the big picture with detailed steps to reach an end goal Strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills A flexible, optimistic approach; committed to overcoming challenges; comfortable with change andambiguity Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to convey complex information to avariety of audiences (e.g., large groups, staff meetings, executive briefings, public board meetings, memos) Strong analytical skills and a high degree of intellectual curiosity to distill analysis into insights andtranslate insights into action- A performance management, accountability, and systems-thinking orientation necessary to inform data-driven strategy development and execution Ability to initiate and manage cohesive partnerships and professional relationships with stakeholders at alllevels, along with the ability to build consensus on pathways for improving student outcomes andaddressing complex issues Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team committed to a newfuture for urban education Fluency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Major Responsibilities And DutiesI. CRAFT A VISION OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE FOR ALL LEARNERS Craft a vision of academic excellence for all learners Use a research- and data-based mindset when making decisions around instruction, professionaldevelopment, evaluation, etc. Collaborate with the Superintendent and other district leadership to design programs and initiatives thatprepare students for a 21st-century workplace Ensure all curricular materials and professional development opportunities are high quality, culturallyresponsive, and aligned to state standards Ensure teachers have the resources and support they need to succeed in their roles and improve studentachievement, especially those working with historically underserved populations Serve as the district expert in pedagogy and effective instruction, helping to craft district achievement goalsand academic policiesII. LEAD EXECUTION OF THE DISTRICT'S ACADEMIC VISION Lead execution of the district's academic vision Supervise the roll-out of new curricula and academic programs, monitoring for fidelity of implementation Design and deliver teacher and principal professional development, including professional learningcommunities, guidance on using new curricula and materials, and opportunities for teachers to reflect onand improve their practice Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about changes to academic policies, materials, andstandards and about the district's academic performance and approach Implement academic support structures for schools with low student achievement and plans for continuousimprovement for schools with average-to-high student achievementIII. OVERSEE DISTRICT ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS Oversee district academic departments Develop and implement rigorous and inclusive programming for special programs such as SpecialEducation, ESL/Bilingual Education, Early Childhood Education, and College/Career Readiness Manage budgets, priorities, and initiatives across the district's academic departments Ensure all academic departments are implementing research-based best practices for supporting diverselearners, including personalized instruction, social-emotional supports, and high expectations Ensure compliance of the district with all academic regulations by remaining informed, sharingrequirements with relevant audiences, and monitoring department activitiesIV. ENSURES PRINCIPALS AND INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERS GROW AND PERFORM AT A HIGH LEVEL Ensures principals and instructional leaders grow and perform at a high level Provides evaluation, differentiated coaching, professional learning, and career growth plans for principals,APs, and instructional coaches. Designs and oversees leadership development programs and models strong instructional leadershippractices. Monitors leader performance and intervenes with tailored supports when needed. Holds campus leaders accountable for high-quality instructional execution Builds and sustains a strong school-leader talent pipeline, including creating readiness pathways foradvancement into campus leadership rolesV. REDUCES PERFORMANCE VARIANCE AND ADVANCES EQUITY ACROSS CAMPUSES Reduces performance variance and advances equity across campuses Monitors disparities across schools in academics, culture, and student services and prioritizes targetedinterventions. Allocates resources to raise underperforming campuses and ensures consistent district standards. Tracks progress and adjusts strategies until equity goals are met. Establishes clear accountability, reporting and data-driven decision-making structures Create and implement teacher evaluation systems that are nuanced, multi-dimensional, and supportive Regularly review curriculum and identify areas for improvement, alignment, or modification Regularly reflect on and refine district academic goals to increase the bar for achievement and push studentlearning forward Sets clear outcome targets and deploys evidence-based strategies to meet them. Uses data to diagnose gaps and direct targeted interventions.VI. LEADS ENROLLMENT STABILITY AND GROWTH THROUGH ALIGNED PROGRAMMING AND ENGAGEMENT Leads enrollment stability and growth through aligned programming and engagementDevelops and executes strategies that link academic programming, school choice, and community outreachto enrollment goals. Coordinates messaging, family engagement, and partnerships to boost recruitment and retention.Analyzes enrollment trends and adapts offerings to community and market needs.MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling,and twisting. Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Environment: Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours. Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
