Locksmith / Access Control Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Locksmith / Access Control Technician to join our security solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of security systems, including electronic access controls, CCTV surveillance, electronic door hardware, and low-voltage wiring. This role also includes traditional Locksmithing skills, such as but not limited to, creating and maintaining Master key systems, rekeying, door hardware repairs and troubleshooting, fresh installation of hardware and more. Your expertise will ensure the safety and security of our clients’ facilities through precise system design, installation, and service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in diverse environments, utilizing your mechanical knowledge, critical thinking skills, electrical experience, and field service skills to deliver top-tier security solutions.
Responsibilities Include:
Install, configure, and service electronic access control systems, including card readers, biometric scanners, keypad locks and remote access software.
Conduct system diagnostics and troubleshooting for security systems such as CCTV cameras, sensors, and tying into third party systems/intergrations.
Perform wiring and cabling of low-voltage systems in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and schematics.
Troubleshooting of existing access control systems or CCTV
Traditional Locksmithing, such as repairs to existing hardware or fresh installation of door hardware and keying systems
Door/Frame repairs or replacement **If able**
Use hand tools and power tools to modify or repair locks, hardware, and security components on-site.
Maintenance of company provided machines and tools
Collaborate with clients to design tailored security solutions based on site-specific needs and system schematics.
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, service reports, and installation procedures.
Provide field service support for security system upgrades or repairs in construction or existing facilities.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a locksmith or access control technician with a strong background in locksmithing and security system installation.
Mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to low-voltage wiring, cabling, and power tools operation.
Familiarity working with contract facility maintenance teams (using IVR check in/out systems)
Familiarity with computer networking concepts essential for configuring networked security devices and remote access software.
Knowledge of CCTV surveillance systems, sensors, electronic hardware wiring and schematics
Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and system design documents accurately.
Experience working as a service technician in diverse environments such as construction sites or commercial facilities.
Strong understanding of NEC standards related to electrical wiring and low-voltage systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex security issues efficiently.
Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
Must Haves:
Must have a clear and valid driver’s license.
Mechanically minded and IT-savvy with.
Ability to communicate at a high level with customers and management.
Ability to convey services in writing for both service calls and estimates into report form for invoicing.
Great work ethic.
Desire to continually expand knowledge base in the field.
2 years prior Security Solutions and/or Locksmith experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to fluently understand, speak and write English.
Ability to push, pull and lift at least 50lbs.
Ability to kneel, crouch and stoop.
Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull.
Ability to climb a ladder and work above ground.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
