Senior Materials & Packaging Engineer Senior Materials & Packaging Engineer | Packaging Development | Materials Science | Manufacturing We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials & Packaging Engineer to lead the development, testing, validation, and optimization of innovative packaging solutions. This engineering role is ideal for professionals with expertise in materials science, polymer engineering, packaging development, plastics, PET, Polypropylene, manufacturing processes, and product commercialization. Key Job Responsibilities · Lead packaging development projects from concept, design, testing, validation, and commercialization. · Develop, evaluate, and optimize packaging materials for performance, manufacturability, quality, sustainability, and cost. · Design and execute laboratory testing protocols to evaluate material and package performance. · Perform statistical analysis of test results and provide data-driven recommendations. · Investigate and resolve packaging, material, and manufacturing issues using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies. · Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and Product Development teams on new product introductions and continuous improvement projects. · Manage multiple engineering projects while meeting timelines, budgets, and technical objectives. · Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives. · Utilize ERP and Quality Management Systems (QMS) to maintain documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards. · Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, presentations, and recommendations for leadership. Required Job Qualifications · Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. · 5+ years of experience in materials engineering, packaging engineering, plastics manufacturing, product development, or manufacturing engineering. · Strong knowledge of Materials Science, including PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and Polypropylene (PP) materials. · Experience developing, testing, validating, and commercializing packaging solutions. · Knowledge of laboratory testing methods, material characterization, and package performance evaluation. · Experience with statistical analysis, experimental design, and data interpretation. · Proven success leading cross-functional engineering projects. · Understanding of manufacturing processes, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. · Experience using ERP systems, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Microsoft Office. · Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and project management skills. Preferred Qualifications · Experience with plastic extrusion, especially sheet extrusion. · Background in packaging, plastics, consumer products, food and beverage, medical device, or industrial manufacturing. · Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification. · Experience supporting new product development (NPD) and commercialization.
