SummaryFull-Time | 2-Year Contract At the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), we are committed to achieving innovative, ground-breaking health and medical research that fundamentally improves the quality of life for all people.We are seeking an experienced and service-driven Facilities Manager to lead the day-to-day management of our facilities function and ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the SAHMRI building. This role is responsible for overseeing building services, maintenance programs, minor works, security systems and facilities operations, while leading a small team and working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors and service providers.This is a highly visible role that requires strong leadership, sound operational judgement and a proactive, customer-focused approach. You will play a key role in supporting researchers, partners and staff by ensuring SAHMRI’s facilities are well maintained, compliant and fit for purpose.About The RoleKey responsibilities include:Facilities, Building and Risk Management Manage the annual facilities budget and identify new works in consultation with Director, Research and Facility ServicesSupport business continuity, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery planningOversee the Building Management System, asset management and compliance activitiesEnsure preventative, corrective and mandatory maintenance programs are delivered effectivelyCoordinate inspections, shutdowns and base building documentationSupport project delivery and risk management across building operationsStakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAct as a key point of contact for facilities-related mattersWork closely with internal teams, contractors, consultants and WHS representativesSupport smooth facilities operations and service delivery across the organisationAdministration Maintain efficient and confidential administrative systemsSupport invoice and payment processing for contractor and consultant worksEnsure templates and controlled documents are current and appropriately distributedLeadershipProvide day-to-day leadership across the facilities functionEngage proactively with executive stakeholders, theme leaders and external partnersEnsure appropriate staffing coverage, including support for out-of-hours eventsAbout YouThe successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:Demonstrated experience in facilities, building operations or maintenance managementExperience leading teams and coordinating service deliveryExperience with Building Management Systems (BMS)Understanding of Work Health & Safety legislation and regulationsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to build effective working relationships at all levelsProven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and respond to operational demands.Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quicklyA proactive, customer-focused and solutions-oriented approachDesirableTertiary qualifications in research, project or engineering related disciplinesExperience in project and contract managementExperience working in a research, laboratory or similarly complex operational environmentSpecial RequirementsSome out of hours work may be required.Be available to be on call to manage after hours emergency /security services on a roster system.Travel to other SAHMRI sites may be required.DCSI Employment Screening and Police Checks may be required.This position requires a pre-employment medical examination to determine suitability for the physical requirements of the role.Everything we do is underpinned by our core values and our institute is dedicated to grow a culture that pursues, enables and demands research excellence.
