Handle With Care Trainer Position There is a Handle with Care Trainer position available for the 2026-2027 school year. The wage will be 4% of the teacher base salary. Handle with Care (HWC) Behavior Management System is the district's training system to meet the requirement outlined by Ohio Administrative Code Rule 3301-35-15 regarding de-escalation and proper use of physical restraint and seclusion in the school setting. The HWC trainer will provide annual training and ongoing support to staff within the trainer's building. Qualifications Full-time district employee Must be available (in-person) for any initial and renewal trainings (during summer months) Must be willing to employ the appropriate use of legal physical restraint in practice and real-life situations Must be capable and willing to endure physical exertion Job Duties Receive (paid) HWC Train the Trainer Maintain HWC Train the Trainer prerequisites as outlined by HWC Collaborate with the building principal to provide and document annual training and professional development (in the fall, during a PD day) using HWC materials to building staff, Administrators, Safety Specialists, Paraprofessionals, Intervention Specialists, and any other staff the building principal may designate. Provide additional training and professional development opportunities annually for specified staff hired after the fall training. Provide ongoing support to principals and staff Provide student crisis prevention and response for your building, using HWC techniques Properly document any use of restraint or seclusion in the building using district guidelines Report to Building Principal and District Behavior Analyst for further guidance Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District. Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Each staff member has a moral responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
