As a team, we are committed to being good stewards of public resources while creating a safe and inclusive environment for employees, customers, and the communities we serve.“The primary role of DART staff members is to carry out the functions of the Assessor’s Office in a manner that is friendly, respectful, resourceful and willing in order to create an environment of safety, trust and belonging for all.”About The PositionSeeking an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of Oregon property tax regulations to determine eligibility for special property tax programs.Process and evaluate exemption, special assessment and other program applications.Approve/deny applications based on regulations.Notify applicants of decisions in writing.Assist applicants with inquiries and required information.Calculate and notify applicants of fees when necessary.Coordinate with other departments or agencies as needed.Conduct field audits using a personal vehicle and prepare reports.Provide customer service as it relates to special programs.Review government leases to determine tax status.Analyze and Investigate account irregularities and initiate corrections.Review and provide input on proposed legislation.Conduct legal research for County counsel and serve as an expert witness if required.Audit completed work for accuracy.Adjust Maximum Assessed Values (MAV) as needed.Ideal AttributesAbility to apply Oregon statute and regulations as it relates to this role.Ability to perform complex math calculations.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Strong drive for excellent customer service.Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing an inclusive and equitable experience to a diverse customer population and those you work with.Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgement.To QualifyWe will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required.
