GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES
Works to maximize facility census, implement an effective streamlined admissions process on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis, and ensure a high level of resident satisfaction.
Screens potential admissions to the facility for the following: level of care appropriateness, financial payment source, length of stay (short- or long-term care), and mental illness.
Documents all inquiries on appropriate forms. Performs follow-up on all inquiries that have not yet converted to admissions. Attends meetings as assigned by Director of Admissions.
Conducts admissions counseling and tours with potential residents, families, and/or responsible parties. Advises residents and/or families of admission requirements as established by the facility and health maintenance organizations.
Ensures proper completion, signing, and distribution of paperwork. Able to expedite assessment and admissions process in an assertive manner. Completes financial assessment of new admissions to facility.
Assist in providing advance notification to department heads regarding appropriate preparation and follow-ups for admissions (both new admissions and re-admits).
Assembles admissions and sales packets.
Ensures that resident’s room is clean and prepared appropriately before arrival.
Meets with family and resident on day of admission to welcome them and introduce to nursing staff on unit. Follows up with a visit at the close of the day.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school degree or equivalent.
Certificate/Licenses: None.
Work Experience: One year of admissions experience in a long-term care setting.
Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.
