Sustaining Engineering Manager

Job ResponsibilitiesManaging ongoing production efforts of all existing Company's product lines. This includes approval of product shipments based on production test data, adjusting test limits in test specifications as appropriate, acting as the point of contact for helping factories resolve component availability issues and resolving all other technical issues that may arise during running production.Implementing a professional and compressive system for organizing, tracking and communicating ongoing sustaining engineering activities.Generating weekly reports for management that summarize production issues, AQL issues, RMA status and other reports related to your responsibilities.Working in conjunction with NPI engineering and factories to ensure a smooth transition of development projects into production.Leading company configuration control/PLM activities including modifications to design packages as required by production.Building and maintaining product definitions for new product development projects in our PLM system.Assisting as needed in NPI activities. This includes providing strategic input on requirements definitions for upcoming NPI projects, lab testing of prototype and pilot build units and other related activities.Leading all company UL activities. This includes the management of new projects, ongoing projects and annual billing reviews. You will also be in charge of resolving ongoing factory UL production issues and assisting factory efforts in completing UL projects on behalf of the Company.Providing technical leadership to the customer service team to assist in resolving RMA issues with Company's customers.Executing and cross-training others in the engineering portion of the RMA process.Executing and cross-training others in the company AQL process.Maintain Company's environmental compliance certification documents such as REACH and RoHS for its product line, for issuance as needed to customers. Ensure factory compliance documents are obtained as needed to support Company's environmental compliance statements.Managing extended product life testing activities for ongoing production products and new product development.Managing continuous improvement initiatives, cost saving projects and supplier evaluations.Identifying potential suppliers of components and equipment to support the growing needs of the business.Special projects assigned by the Company's executive team.QualificationsBSEE DegreeExtensive experience with the development, testing and manufacturing of complex electronic products.Experience managing an engineering lab using industry standard organization practices.Experience in the engineering of LED drivers and lighting fixture systems.A working understanding of discreet LEDs, LED modules and their operating characteristics.Experience with PLM systems. Experience using Arena preferred.Experience negotiating with suppliers.Experience executing projects with UL and negotiating their pricing and fees.Strong computer skills including extensive experience in creating spreadsheets, presentations, and reports and using complex PLM and ERP/MRP systems.Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite including: Teams, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.Excellent communication skills and experience organizing and leading small engineering teams.Willingness to work flexibly in a small business environment and help with unique and time-sensitive projects outside your regular duties.
