Instructional Aide, PLC (26-27 CE)

Instructional Aide Primary Purpose: Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.Education/Certification: High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificateHave met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*Valid Texas educational aide certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills: Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, mathematics, and/or musicAbility to work well with childrenAbility to communicate effectivelyExperience: Some experience working with childrenMajor Responsibilities and Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Instructional Support: Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Student Management: Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.Other: Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Must be present regularly in person.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Equipment Used: Standard technology equipment including personal computer and peripherals.Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stopping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.Motion: Frequent walking.Lifting: Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desk, and other classroom or adaptive equipment (if applicable).Environment: Work inside and outside with regular exposure to noise (if applicable).Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.
