The Consumer Sales Specialist is a phone ‑ based, consultative sales professional responsible for managing standard consumer lending and deposit conversations from initial inquiry through application completion. This role serves as a core producer within the Consumer Lending and Member Growth team and focuses on building strong member relationships through accurate execution, responsive service, and needs ‑ based product recommendations.Through inbound and outbound interactions, the Consumer Sales Specialist supports members with consumer loan and deposit applications by gathering required information, reviewing documentation for completeness, and partnering with underwriting and processing teams to advance applications toward decision and funding. Working within established guidelines, processes, and sales frameworks, this role identifies appropriate opportunities to deepen member relationships through cross ‑ sell and upsell while delivering a consistent and reliable experience. What will be expected of me? Manage consumer loan and deposit application conversations using a consultative, needs‑based approachInterview members to understand financial needs and recommend appropriate consumer products within established guidelinesAssist members with completing applications accurately and efficiently, ensuring required information and documentation are collectedReview applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness and refer to underwriting as requiredMaintain ownership of assigned applications by following up on outstanding items and providing timely updates to membersSupport consumer loan requests, including home equity products, by gathering required information and forwarding completed files to processing partnersIdentify routine opportunities to deepen member relationships through cross‑sell and upsell of consumer products and servicesMeet assigned individual sales, activity, quality, and service expectationsMaintain confidentiality and adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and applicable regulationsContinue developing product knowledge, sales skills, and judgment with coaching and leadership supportDemonstrate the Westerra Way Experience in every interaction Will I have Direct Reports? Experience/Education: Internal1 year working at Westerra with demonstrated skills and abilitiesExternal2+ years of experience within a financial institution or closely related regulated industry (e.g., banking, credit union, mortgage, lending), with exposure to consumer lending, deposit services, or consultative financial sales environments. Experience in non‑financial sales environments alone is not sufficient without demonstrated exposure to regulated financial products, compliance standards, or lending workflows.High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.Working knowledge of consumer loan products, policies, and procedures preferred.Knowledge of real estate financing or HELOC products preferred.NMLS registration required upon hire.Candidates and employees may qualify through either the external experience requirements, internal experience criteria, or a combination of both.Skills And AbilitiesDemonstrated consultative sales abilities with confidence handling end‑to‑end member conversationsAbility to thrive in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven call center environmentStrong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills Proficiency in MS Office products, online research tools, and loan or account origination systems Ability to navigate multiple systems while maintaining conversation flow Ability to execute assigned work independently with support available for escalations or exceptionsApplies judgment appropriately within established guidelines and seeks guidance on more complex situationsSolid understanding of the consumer lending and member growth business line and operating environmentAble to resolve routine to moderately complex issues with consistency and accuracy What is the work environment like, and are there physical requirements for this role?
