Shift Manager The Shift Manager supports a fast, friendly, and clean shopping environment by delivering quality guest service and maintaining an organized store. This role assists with daily operations, including merchandising, pricing, loss prevention, inventory, and fuel transactions, while addressing guest concerns and upholding True North service standards. In the absence of the Assistant Manager, the Shift Manager assumes those responsibilities.Provide prompt, courteous customer service in accordance with company standardsAccurately process customer transactions using point-of-sale systemsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized store environmentPerform assigned food service tasks following food safety and sanitation requirements, as applicablePerform interior and exterior store duties necessary to support daily operationsAssist customers and provide product or service recommendationsGreet and acknowledge every customer to create a welcoming environmentCommunicate customer feedback, concerns, and complaints to managementMonitor store activity and report suspicious behavior or incidentsHandle customer issues and complaints, escalating to the Store Manager when required.Communicate clearly with other team members and guests.Promote customer loyalty and enroll customers in the rewards programStay informed on current promotions, advertised products, and salesUpsell by recommending complementary or similar itemsAccurately process transactions using the POS system while following cash-handling and loss prevention proceduresEnsure all items are scanned, paid for, and secured, especially high-risk merchandiseVerify ID and comply with age-restricted sales laws and policiesEnsure accurate pricing, labeling, and promotional updatesExplain car wash programs and assist with traffic flow during peak times if applicableMaintain clean, sanitary, and well-stocked restrooms, food service stations, and customer spacesEmpty interior trash receptacles and keep register area clean, neat, and organizedRespond to spills and maintain clean organized cooler and storage areasEnsure floors, displays, and merchandise are organized and maintained according to merchandising standards and planogramsMaintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the exterior area, including parking lot, fueling areas, entrances, and dumpster areasEnsure safety by shoveling and salting walkways, pump areas, and car wash entrance/exit if applicable and notifying management of any lighting issuesMaintain fuel station and dispenser areas by cleaning equipment, monitoring conditions, replenishing supplies, and reporting issues as neededMonitor exterior equipment and fixtures for cleanliness, functionality, and signs of damage or tampering and report issues as neededPerform tasks such as picking up trash, emptying trash receptacles, basic landscaping upkeep, minor painting or touch-up tasks, and spill response as neededPrepare and serve food items in accordance with food safety and sanitation standardsSupport inventory management activities including receiving deliveries, stocking merchandise, rotations, product placement, and removing expired or damaged productsMonitor in-ground gasoline storage inventory.Support store operations during high-volume periods, staffing shortages, or special promotions as neededAssist store operations with training new team membersAs directed by the Store Manager, run daily reports, reconcile shift sheets, complete PDI reporting, and banking procedure.
