Hybrid Details: Up to 50% travel throughout Kentucky towards CincinnatiJob DescriptionA rapidly growing organization is seeking an EHS Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental (HSE) initiatives. This role serves as the subject matter expert on HSE matters and has the authority to stop work in cases of imminent danger to workers, the public, or the environment. The EHS Manager ensures compliance with internal policies as well as client, local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations. Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and manage a comprehensive HSE training and compliance program to promote safe work practices, conditions, and worker behaviors across employees and subcontractorsIntegrate internal HSE policies with client safety programsSupport and promote a strong safety culture and incident-free workplace philosophyCoordinate HSE activities with customers and stakeholdersPlan, direct, and conduct periodic HSE assessments of job sites and officesDeliver and manage annual HSE training programs (including drug-free workplace, confined space, trenching and excavation safety, first aid/CPR, competent person training, OSHA 10/30-hour training)Ensure DOT compliance for drivers, vehicles, and equipmentDevelop and deliver additional safety training as neededConduct new hire and ongoing HSE orientationsMonitor subcontractor and sub-tier subcontractor compliance with HSE requirementsLead and support incident investigations; ensure consistent case management and root cause analysisTrain and advise personnel on HSE regulations, assessments, and operational processesPromote employee engagement in safety programs and initiativesInterpret and apply HSE regulations across projects and operationsPrepare and submit timely HSE reports and ensure leadership reviewTrack and report on HSE performance metrics and incident trendsCommunicate hazards, near misses, and safety concerns to employeesFacilitate Safety Committee meetings, including documentation and action trackingRecommend disciplinary actions for safety violations when necessaryMaintain employee training records and OSHA-required documentationTravel domestically as neededRequired Skills & QualificationsGeneral5 10 years of experience in an HSE management role2 3 years of experience as an HSE trainer in industrial construction environmentsAt least 3 years of experience in underground utility constructionStrong knowledge of federal safety standards (OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, EPA, DOT)Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulationsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external teamsProficiency with computer systems, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database toolsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to take independent corrective actionAbility to work in both office and field environments, including navigating stairs, ladders, heights, confined spaces, and uneven terrainFlexibility to work overtime or weekends with short notice as neededExperience in construction, plant, or manufacturing environmentsAdditional experience in trenching/excavation, shoring, confined space, traffic control, and DOT compliancePreferred QualificationsCHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certificationAssociate degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related fieldOSHA 500 certificationWork Environment & CultureEmployees Are Supported Through a Workplace That EmphasizesOpportunities for growth across multiple disciplines and career stagesCompetitive compensation, health benefits, wellness resources, and retirement planningEmployee recognition and leadership development programsA culture centered on grit, safety, inclusion, and teamworkCore Cultural Principles IncludeGrit: Acting with courage, reliability, continuous improvement, and teamworkSafety: Commitment to safe practices across all environmentsInclusion: Promoting a diverse and inclusive workplaceCollaboration: Maintaining a team-oriented, supportive environment
