This newly created position will provide both paralegal and legal secretarial support to a growing team of attorneys handling a high-volume caseload. The role is approximately 50% paralegal and 50% legal secretary responsibilities, with the opportunity to evolve into a dedicated paralegal position as the practice continues to expand. Responsibilities Draft discovery responses, including preparing objections and coordinating substantive responses with attorneys and clientsReview case files proactively to identify documents and information needed to support litigation strategy and expert reviewCoordinate collection, organization, and production of project documentation, including construction records, contracts, correspondence, photographs, and other relevant materialsPrepare document productions and manage large volumes of electronically stored informationOrganize and prepare materials for expert witnesses, ensuring complete and accurate documentation is provided for reviewCreate and maintain case management templates, discovery shells, and litigation support materialsAssist attorneys with pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial preparationMaintain and update case files within iManage and other firm systemsCommunicate with clients, experts, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel regarding case-related mattersManage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other litigation-related eventsCoordinate scheduling and correspondence for assigned attorneysDraft, revise, proofread, and file legal documentsPrepare and process court filings in state and federal courtsMonitor litigation deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling ordersHandle client communications and routine case correspondenceMaintain electronic and physical case filesProvide overflow legal secretarial support to the litigation team as needed Experience Minimum 3 years previous experience working as a Paralegal/Legal Secretary on construction defect cases is highly preferredExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong understanding of civil litigation procedures, discovery processes, and court rulesAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, clients, experts, and support staffProficiency with iManage or comparable document management systems preferredExperience preparing discovery responses and coordinating document productionsStrong writing and research skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesProficiency in using legal research tools, such as LexisNexis and WestlawProficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant softwareHave a masterful understanding of the litigation flow, as well as demonstrate the appropriate urgency and initiative in performing tasks that advance the cases toward resolutionPrevious experience billing time and comfortable with billing 50-70 hours/monthBenefitsFull suite of health/dental/vision benefits that go into effect the 1st of the month after an employee starts with the firm10 company holidays + 4 early release days16 PTO daysHybrid schedule (3 days/week in office, 2 days/week at home)401k + firm match based on previous year revenue.
