Supt. of Student ServicesDept. /School: Assigned CampusWage/Hour Status: ExemptDate Revised: April 2023PRIMARY PURPOSE:The Instructional Coach position is designed for the teacher who strives to accomplish positively impacting classroom success. The primary purpose of the Instructional Coach is to improve the learning in Dayton ISD through delivery of the state standards and ensure the district instructional framework is delivered with efficacy. The instructional coach, under the direction of district leadership, will support classroom teachers,to strengthen instruction and increase student learning. specialists, and campus administration to strengthen instruction and increase student learning. This position will be required to have a strong knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices that address differentiated instruction for the learner both adult and student. This applicant will be an important piece in the leadership team, developing shared understanding and messages around the importance of instruction in student learning.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/CertificationMaster's degree from accredited university preferredValid Texas teaching certificateDemonstrated competency in the academic subject area assignedSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAdvanced understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessmentAbility to design effective lessons that meet the expectations of the districtinstructional framework and coach peers to do the sameAbility to coach teachers in the critical attributes of instruction and student engagementwith diverse populationsAbility to collaborate in the evaluation of external instructional programsAbility to increase teacher effectiveness based on student engagement and thestudent work producedAbility to interpret data to inform instructional practicesExcellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to plan, and present professional learningExperienceFive years' experience as a classroom teacherClassroom coaching experience (i.e., specialist and team leader and department chair,student teacher supervisor, teacher mentor, etc.)MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Instructional Strategies1. Observe classrooms daily and provide feedback.2. Oversee the development and implementation of lesson plans incorporating thedistrict's common instructional framework.3. Provide trainings to teachers.4. Serve as an on-site professional developer utilizing an embedded modelwhereby follow up is immediate and frequent.5. Provide opportunities for teachers to observe good teaching (other teachers,model lessons).6. Identify needs of teachers in instructional delivery and assesment, and planprofessional growth opportunities for them.7. Provide teachers with strategies, resources, and ideas.8. Facilitate the sharing of activities, resources and knowledge across grade levelsand from teachers to teacher.9. Analyze school data.10. Attend leadership meetings.11. Attend Instructional Coaches meetings as assigned.12. Attend professional development opportunities.13. Collaborate with other Instructional Coaches.14. Support teachers as they implement new instructional strategies, newcurriculum, etc.15. Train and support teachers in developing common assessments within teams ofteachers including being able to articulate the rationale for commonassessments.16. Work with individual teachers to assess students' needs and plan for instructionbased on those needs.17. Work with individual teachers to set goals, discuss issues, and make plans.18. Maintain an "open door" policy with teachers.19. Check in regularly with teachers.20. Work collaboratively with all teachers.21. Set a high level of expections22.
