The Pathologist Assistant performs specific designated tasks and duties under the direction and supervision of a licensed and appropriately trained Pathologist.Responsibilities:Accessions, bills and labels specimen containers and requisitions in an accurate and efficient mannerCompletes daily assignments in an organized, efficient manner. Develops, coordinates and provides team support to accomplish day to day activities and tasks. Participates in departmental meeting as appropriateUses voice recognition software program and LIS to enter in gross descriptionsUses computer appropriately to accurately enter required information in LIS in terms of reconciliation of cassettes and slides. Verifies billing charges. Exhibits resourcefulness in finding alternatives in accomplishing work tasks when appropriateDescribes, dictates, and dissects all categories of surgical specimens in accordance with departmental guidelines accurately and efficientlyChooses appropriate samples for decalcification process and submits adequately decalcified samples to Histology DepartmentPerforms proper disposal of tissue and chemical waste in the gross roomPerforms all routine work and quality control activities to ensure high standards in the Department Qualifications:Academic training leading to either a bachelor's or master's degree required. Graduate from a NAACLS-accredited school of Pathology Assistant. Master's degree preferred.Licensed as a NYS Pathologist Assistant under the NYS Department of Education required.Additional practical and clinical training in Anatomic Pathology leading to certification as a Pathologist Assistant.Excellent oral and written communication skills essential. Strong organizational skills required. Computer experience desirable.Posted Salary RangeUSD $63.28 - USD $82.27 /Hr.This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
