Associate Attorney

Job Description About the Position Established criminal defense firm seeking a motivated associate attorney to handle a high-volume misdemeanor caseload and assist in serious felony matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a newer attorney to gain substantial courtroom experience, develop litigation skills, and work closely with experienced counsel on complex cases. This is an entry level position. Responsibilities * Independently but with supervision and assistance when needed, manage a caseload of misdemeanor criminal matters from arraignment through resolution (including DUIs, domestic violence, theft, assault, and other gross misdemeanors) * Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, pretrial hearings, motions, negotiations, and trials * Handle juvenile court matters, including detention hearings, adjudications, and disposition hearings * Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and memoranda * Negotiate with prosecutors and advocate for favorable outcomes for clients * Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case status and strategy * Assist lead counsel with felony cases, including case preparation, investigation, motion practice, and trial support * Manage case files, deadlines, and court compliance requirements
