School Psychologist- Lawrence School
The Public Schools of Brookline seek a full-time school psychologist to serve students and families in a K-8 school setting. The successful candidate will have expertise in administering and interpreting psychological and educational assessments (both formal and informal), strong written and oral communication skills, and a solid understanding of child development (background in neuropsychology preferred).Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Conducting psychological evaluations assessing cognitive, academic, attention, memory, and social-emotional functioningProviding individual and group counseling (e.g., social skills, coping skills)Participating in special education Team meetings and writing IEP goals and progress reportsParticipating on school-based mental health and crisis response teamsConsulting with administrators, educators, and related service providers (e.g., BCBA, SLP, OT, PT)Supporting the development and implementation of student behavioral interventionsCollaborating with and consulting to parents/guardians to support student successAttendance at department meetingsParticipation with colleagues as a contributing member of the school communityActive involvement in professional development (i.e. courses, workshops and in-service training) in order to be current in new methods and approaches in special education as well as to expand knowledge of the general education curriculum for students receiving servicesOther responsibilities as assigned by the building Principal and/or Director of Special Education Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Special Education Qualifications:Strong diagnostic and analytical skills to identify learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needsKnowledge of evidence-based interventions and tools to support students, staff, and familiesExperience collaborating on IEP development and participating in Team meetingsAbility to determine when additional evaluations or referrals are warrantedEffective communication skills with families, staff, and outside agenciesCultural responsiveness and sensitivity to diverse student populationsA collaborative mindset, a sense of humor, and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused in high-stress situations are essential qualities for this role.Candidates must have a current MA DESE School Psychologist license The Public Schools of Brookline is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching or practice to the diversity and excellence of the PSB community.
