Bagging and Loading Operator

Job Posting Position Title: Bagging and Loading Operator Location: Spruce Pine-KTF Reports to: Production Supervisor Shift: 2nd Shift Top Pay: $26.08 Summary: Transfer product from silos and mills into bags, trucks, and railcars. Duties & Responsibilities: Operate bagger and super-sacker to transfer product into 50 lb bags and super sacks. Clean and troubleshoot bagger and super-sacker. Fill customer orders according to MSS (master shipping sheet). Make alterations to bags according to customer specification. Check bag weight to ensure specification is met. Stack bags on pallets. Wrap with shrink wrap. Operate forklift to transfer pallets from bagging area to warehouse and onto trucks when loading. Operate loader to load product into bulk trucks. Clean machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions; to include a daily end-of-shift work area cleanup. Records production and operational information on daily production report to include any down/standby time. Maintain a clean working environment by removing trash from work area; to include moving pallets and garbage to dumpsters. Generate bill-of-lading. Coordinate with loading and bagging lead for the placement of pallets in an efficient and effective manner for loading. Greet truck drivers. Have driver complete necessary paperwork (signing in, identifying MSS number, signing bill-of-lading, signing master shipping sheet) Locate and/or prepare shipment according to MSS; ensuring that shipment is complete according to MSS. Ensure truck is suitable for loading by checking for extruding nails, water leaks, foreign objects, and floor integrity for forklift. Skill/knowledge Requirement: Communication skills to coordinate loading and warehouse placement. Writing and reading skills required for inspection paperwork and safety procedures. Basic math skills required to accurately process work orders. Required Activities: Must be able to bend, stoop, and balance while lifting and/or holding 50 lbs. For example: stacking 50 lb product bags on pallets and shoveling spilled product from ground. Must be able to balance on top of railcars and trucks when bulk loading.
