Senior Buyer - IO Inbound Material Ocean

Job DescriptionThe RoleThis is a global Senior Buyer role leading the management, negotiating and buyer of ocean container rates. What You'll DoSourcing and Contracting Activities that include but not limited to:Sourcing event bid strategy & managementBid analyticsCoordination and alignment of RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions, SOR, RFQ documentationLeadership sourcing recommendation / alignment.Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit ServicesDaily supplier interface activities on all commercial itemsSupport commercial budget activitiesSupport logistics supplier management initiatives including "Strategic Supplier Engagement"Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolutionPerform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requestsParticipate in supplier KPI reviewsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related fields5+ years of work experience in the related fieldsOcean carrier work experienceWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Finance/Engineering/Logistics CertificationsMaster's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related fieldsStrong multi-faceted experience in Logistics and Supply Chains including working knowledge of various logistics modes and supply base dynamicsStrong Commercial Negotiation experienceRobust experience in complex bid and contract managementWorking knowledge in data analysis and bid management softwareWorking experience in data analytics environment.Strong purchasing negotiation skills in logistics or other servicesStrong understanding of the network optimization concepts and processStrong Technical capabilities including Data Mining and Analysis including knowledge of SQL, Tableau and MS AccessKnowledge of Mapping Tools including MapInfoLeadership – ability to manage complex projectsHigh Analytic Capability in situations which are ambiguous and complexStrong Senior Leadership presentation skillsHigh level of oral and written communications skillsHigh level of interpersonal skillsAbility to both work independently and as a member of cross-functional teamsAbility to lead a project from start to finishDetail oriented and Data DrivenHigh process focusEnergetic and passionate to find solutions to complex supply chain problemsGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
