Job Summary
The Testing Services Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing laboratory activities in support of Testing Services Scientists that are necessary for virology and microbiology testing. This may include, but is not limited to, handling of test articles, working with cell cultures, preparing FA slides, and collaboration with Laboratory Management and Study Director(s) to maintain a high quality of testing in accordance with applicable regulations and cGLP (9CFR, 21CFR, EP/USP, ISO 9001 and ISO 17025).
Duties and Responsibilities
Obtain and maintain proficiency in following all assigned laboratory SOPs
Cleaning of labs and biosafety cabinets
Restocking of lab supplies daily/weekly
Record incoming samples
Labeling of flasks, plates, and slides for weekly assays
Maintain paperwork as per all related SOPs, Quality Manual, and regulatory requirements
Perform aspects of virological and microbiological assays including but not limited to:
Aseptic Technique
Production of media and other laboratory reagents
Test Article preparation, and cell culture checks
BL2 organism inoculation and other tasks in a BL2 laboratory
Performance of portions of regulatory testing (FA staining, hemadsorption, and cytological staining)
Assist in training new personnel as needed
Participate in assay verifications and validations
Awareness of relevant regulations (ISO 9001:2017, ISO 17025:2015, 9CFR §113, 21CFR §58, Eur. Ph., and USP)
May perform some advanced testing
Perform other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Experiences
Related lab experience in similar environment
College level courses in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics preferred
Education, Licenses and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required
BS in life sciences preferred
Physical Requirements for the Job
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 40% of the time (Standing and/or sitting)
Frequently moves lab materials weighing up to 40lbs
Pay Range Data
We anticipate filling this position of Lab Tech at an hourly rate between $20.00 and $23.00 per hour. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. The range listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses.
