This role ensures that projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with Y&H's operational standards. Responsibilities include close collaboration with field crews, engineers, and clients, along with proactive management of survey team resources and departmental objectives.Salary Range: $100,000-$140,000Key Responsibilities:Direct the preparation of boundary, topographic, ALTA, subdivision, and construction surveys using data collected by field crews.Review and sign final survey documents including Records of Survey, Corner Records, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and Legal Descriptions.Research and analyze deeds, easements, title reports, and other legal documents to support boundary determination and resolution.Process field data and perform quality checks to ensure compliance with state and local standards.Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify survey needs, provide technical insight, and support overall project goals.Prepare and review scope, approach, and budgets for proposals related to survey services.Oversee the organization and maintenance of survey project files and documentation for legal and archival purposes.Manage department workload by tracking project schedules, assigning staff resources appropriately, and maintaining realistic timelines.Lead regular departmental meetings to align on project priorities, timelines, and resource allocation.Mentor and guide Assistant Surveyors in drafting, legal research, and survey calculations, supporting their technical development and project contributions.Qualifications:California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in good standing.5+ years of experience in land surveying, including preparation of survey maps and legal documents.Strong knowledge of boundary law, mapping procedures, and California Subdivision Map Act requirements.Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.Preferred Skills:Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey-related software.Experience coordinating with public agencies for map reviews and approvals.Proven ability to manage team workloads and prioritize department resources.Passion for mentoring and supporting the growth of technical staff.This position provides an opportunity to support and help manage development projects through the planning and entitlement process. As a Planning & Entitlement Assistant Project Manager at Y&H, you will play a key role in coordinating entitlement efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting communication between clients, agencies, and internal teams. This role contributes to moving projects efficiently from due diligence and conceptual planning through entitlement approvals.Working under the supervision of the Director of Planning & Entitlements or designee, this position requires a balance of technical understanding, organization, and proactive coordination. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, and capable of supporting multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Salary Range: $60,000-$95,000Key Responsibilities:Project CoordinationAssist in managing planning and entitlement projects from initial due diligence through approval.Coordinate with internal staff to ensure deliverables such as site plans, exhibits, and maps meet applicable agency requirements.Support task delegation, monitor progress, and help maintain project schedules and priorities.Contribute to a collaborative team environment and assist in mentoring junior staff as needed.Entitlement ProcessingAssist with the preparation, submittal, and tracking of entitlement applications, including zoning changes, variances, and permits.Review project materials for consistency with local ordinances, general plans, and regulatory requirements.Coordinate supporting documentation such as environmental studies, technical reports, and agency responses.Interface with public agencies and sub-consultants to facilitate timely processing and approvals.Client & Agency CoordinationSupport communication with clients regarding project status, requirements, and entitlement progress.Coordinate with project managers, agency staff, and consultants to maintain alignment and momentum.Assist in preparing for and participating in agency meetings, hearings, and public outreach efforts.Budget & Schedule SupportAssist in tracking project budgets, schedules, and entitlement timelines across multiple projects.Identify potential risks, delays, or constraints and communicate them to project leadership.Support efficient resource use by helping prioritize tasks and deadlines.Documentation & ReportingMaintain organized and accurate project files, including applications, approvals, and correspondence.Prepare status updates, summaries, and supporting documentation for internal and client use.Document key meetings, agency comments, and entitlement milestones.Qualifications:2–5+ years of experience in planning, entitlement processing, land development, or a related field.Working knowledge of zoning regulations, land use planning, and entitlement processes.Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a team environmentPreferred Skills:Experience working with public agencies and navigating entitlement approval processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general project tracking tools.Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work products.Discover the openings available to grow your career with Yamabe & Horn Engineering.J-18808-Ljbffr
