Shop & Maintenance Supervisor

Job Overview A Shop & Maintenance Supervisor leads a team with a hands-on approach providing oversight to keep facilities, equipment, and job sites running smoothly by planning, scheduling, and overseeing repairs, preventive maintenance, and, ensuring safety compliance (OSHA), managing work orders, ordering parts, communicating with vendors, reporting to management, focusing on minimizing downtime and maximizing asset lifespan. Key Responsibilities: · Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, assign tasks, and evaluate maintenance technicians and contractors. · Maintenance Planning: Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for fleet vehicles, machinery, and systems. · Operations Oversight: Respond to maintenance requests, manage work orders, and ensure timely completion of projects. · Shop Operations: Ensure shop cleanliness, safety, and efficient workflow; manage parts/supply inventory; oversee outside vendor repairs. · Resource Management: Order supplies, manage inventory, track expenses, and contribute to budget preparation. · Reporting: Communicate maintenance needs, issues, and performance metrics to senior management. · Inspection & Improvement: Regularly inspect facilities, identify potential issues, and recommend upgrades or new equipment. Essential Skills: · Strong diagnostic skills for heavy diesel/gasoline engines, hydraulic, electrical systems, proficiency with diagnostic software. · Knowledge of maintenance procedures, equipment, and safety standards (OSHA). · Problem-solving and decision-making. · Budgeting and inventory control. · Excellent communication, leadership, team management, coaching, and motivational skills; ability to resolve conflicts and lead by example.
