Smith is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with approximately 12,000 employees at operations in the United States, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.Primary Function Candidate will be responsible for completing training and performing the following job functions:Responsibilities:Manage inventory on flue pipe and manage movements of pipe in SAP and physicallyManage inventory on long pipe and manage movements of long pipe in SAP and physically5s and housekeeping responsibility for the pipeyard and back alley to support production and inventoryUnloading and loading long pipe trucks utilizing a fork truck and/or crane; transporting long pipe safely and efficientlyPerform required stock keeper/material handler functions (full rotational ability) by operating material-handling equipmentProvide direction, training and/or guidance to new employees as requiredAbility to load, unload and deliver materials in/to receiving, assembly lines, storage areas, trucks, production and non-production areasIdentify parts correctly from print or specification sheets, ensuring that material is properly identified, is in acceptable condition and is properly packaged to handleWrite/verify/distribute necessary paperwork in accordance with established processes and proceduresMaintain the work area and equipment in a clean and organized condition and follow all prescribed safety rules and quality requirementsStorage and handling of product in a safe and secure manner to ensure product preservationReport problems with safety, quality, processes, equipment and materials to lead person or supervisorWear required PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, and any additional PPE required for task being performed)Perform manual handling tasks as needed or as specified by lead person or supervisorPerform other duties and operate machinery as assigned by team leader or supervisorQualifications:Willingness to learn new tasks, cross-train, rotate and work as a part of a teamWillingness to serve as back-up for other team members to cover absenteeism, vacations and mandatory rotations of responsibilityWillingness to work overtime as required depending on business needWillingness to work in the specific environmental conditions of this role (indoor and outdoor loading, unloading, driving, etc in all weather)SAP experience and knowledge requiredFork lift license/certificationCrane operating licensing and/or certification required within 90 days of hireOne year of materials experience requiredAbility to understand various operations and their capacitiesGood analytical, verbal and written communication skills to aid in problem solvingPrevious manufacturing experience requiredAbility to follow all safety and quality policies and proceduresGood computer skillsEducation: High School Diploma or GEDPhysical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
