Kamaticsis seeking aToolmakerwho performs a wide range of manual machining and toolmaking operations within the tool room to support production across all value streams, with a focus on minimizing downtime and ensuring high-quality tooling. This role emphasizes fixture building, abrasive machining, and hands-on tool fabrication using specialty rubberized materials. The position requires strong blueprint interpretation, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to work through detailed, multi-step processes with patience and precision. ResponsibilitiesSet up and perform manual machining operations to fabricate and repair tooling and fixturesBuild and modify tooling from print, including fixtures, grinding components, and abrasive machining toolsInterpret complex blueprints and full GD&T requirements to manufacture parts to specificationWork to tight tolerances (typically around .001\") while maintaining quality standardsPerform tooling processes such as grinding, lapping, polishing, and grit blastingSupport production through troubleshooting and resolving tooling and machining issuesAssist in the creation of rubberized blanks, including measuring, mixing, and processing materials through multi-step curing processesApply and support KAron coating processes (training provided)Develop and document tooling procedures and best practicesTrain and support operators on tooling usage and processesMaintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety standardsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and process enhancementsQualificationsEducation:High School Diploma or GED requiredExperience:4-6+ years of hands-on toolmaker experience (tool room experience strongly preferred)Required SkillsStrong background in manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)Experience building tooling and fixtures from printAdvanced understanding of GD&T and blueprint readingExperience working with tight tolerances (.001\")Exposure to abrasive machining or grinding processes preferredCNC experience is a plus but not requiredPreferred SkillsCreative problem-solver with a hands-on approachPatient and detail-oriented, especially with multi-step processesHighly organized and able to manage precise measurements and material handlingComfortable working with non-traditional materials (e.g., rubberized/plastic compounds)Physical RequirementsOccasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbsFrequent bending, twisting, and graspingProlonged standingBenefits: At Kamatics, we recognize how important your career and benefits are to you and your family.
