Lead Systems Engineer (APU Controls Engineer)Location: Phoenix, Arizona (Hybrid)Employment Type: 5 Months W2 Contract (Long-term contract opportunity)Pay Rate: $80/hrWork Arrangement: HybridIndustry: Aerospace & DefenseRole OverviewBEPC is seeking an experienced APU Controls Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and verification of Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) control systems for a next-generation aerospace program. This position will play a critical role in developing advanced control system architectures, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) frameworks, and integrated control solutions for safety-critical aerospace applications.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering, control systems development, requirements management, and aerospace integration activities. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative propulsion and power system technologies while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.Key Responsibilities• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop control system components, including LRUs and electronic controllers, for a new APU development program.• Execute, analyze, and document engineering trade studies to support design decisions and system optimization.• Develop and implement Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering architectures utilizing industry-standard tools and methodologies.• Integrate control systems with Auxiliary Power Units and support system-level verification and validation activities.• Develop, analyze, decompose, and validate system requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.• Design, implement, and evaluate control algorithms and embedded software solutions for APU applications.• Support control system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation.• Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace standards, regulations, and safety requirements.• Provide technical guidance and support to engineering team members as needed.QualificationsRequired Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.• Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience supporting safety-critical aerospace development programs.• Strong understanding of control systems engineering principles, methodologies, and development processes.• Experience with control system design, implementation, integration, testing, and validation.• Experience with requirements analysis, decomposition, traceability, and verification.• Experience performing system integration activities within complex aerospace systems.• Ability to execute and document engineering trade studies.Preferred Qualifications• Experience developing control systems for aerospace applications.• Knowledge of gas turbine engine control system components, including:Electronic controllersFuel controlsLubrication modulesWire harnessesStart motorsOil level sensorsSpeed sensorsTemperature sensorsPressure sensors• Experience with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) tools, including:DOORS Next Generation (DOORS NG)Engineering Workflow Management (EWM)Engineering Test Management (ETM)• Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and MBSE methodologies.• Knowledge of APU systems and aircraft integration.• Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements.• Experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting engineering teams.• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.• Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving project requirements.About BEPCBEPC Inc., founded in 2007, is a 100% employee-owned company providing top-tier consulting and staffing solutions across industries like technology, engineering, manufacturing, and project management.
