Diesel Mechanic
Underground Utility Contractor with over 29 years of experience is currently interviewing candidates for a Diesel Mechanic position within the company. We are a growing company focused in Central and Southern Indiana looking for individuals with a desire for career growth and a willingness to learn.
JOB PURPOSE:
Maintains and repairs diesel powered trucks and equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnose, test, adjust, and repair systems of heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles.
Examines, test drives and troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment.
Performs repairs and replaces defective parts.
Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer’s specifications.
Maintains inventory and restocks parts.
May respond to road calls.
Maintains records of repairs and preventative maintenance.
May perform other general garage duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems of general and advanced nature.
Ability to perform tasks requiring heavy physical effort occasionally in inclement weather.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance.
Ability to work in safe and efficient manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Two years experience in diesel engine repair with ability to complete manufacturer’s training programs on various systems.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Gehring Underground, Inc.
