Grow into ownership of the entire program.Take new manufacturing work from customer requirements to a clear, executable process on the shop floor—and then help make sure the process works.The OpportunityBudde Precision is a growing precision machining company serving demanding aerospace, defense and industrial customers. We are adding a Process Engineer to strengthen the technical team that turns new work into stable, repeatable manufacturing processes.This is not a narrow, desk-bound engineering role. You will work alongside our Project Manager, programmers, machinists, quality team and suppliers to interpret requirements, plan the process, launch jobs and solve problems. The initial focus will be contract review and traditional process engineering so new jobs start with the right requirements, routing, tooling, gauging and controls in place.We do not expect one person to arrive knowing every part of the job. We do expect curiosity, urgency, sound judgment and the willingness to get into the details. As you prove what you can handle, the role can expand into broader ownership of projects and manufacturing programs.What You’ll DoReview customer drawings, specifications, purchase orders and quality clauses; identify risks, questions and requirements before work is released.Translate contract requirements into shop-floor execution through routers, process flows, work instructions and clear purchasing and quality requirements.Coordinate upfront engineering with machining, programming, quality and operations to establish practical manufacturing plans.Create and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, inspection plans, SPC requirements and other process-control documentation.Plan tooling and gauging needs, including tool mapping, gauge selection or purchase, and gauge correlation.Support project feasibility reviews and quoting with process concepts, outside-process needs, tooling requirements and technical risk identification.Process and launch jobs in the ERP system; track open engineering actions and help keep launches moving.Purchase or coordinate material, tooling, gauging and outside processing when required, while maintaining requirement flowdown and traceability.Participate in first-article planning, nonconformance review, root-cause analysis, corrective action and customer-quality responses.Follow jobs into production, compare the planned process to what is actually happening, and help resolve quality, process and delivery issues.Improve templates, standards and engineering systems so future jobs launch faster and more consistently.What We’re Looking ForA technical foundation in manufacturing, machining, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, engineering technology or a related field.A bachelor’s degree is preferred, but equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience is absolutely considered.CNC machine-shop experience or working knowledge of machining processes, prints, tolerances and GD&T is strongly preferred.Enough practical judgment to recognize when a requirement, process plan or measurement approach does not make sense—and the initiative to ask why.Strong organization and follow-through across many details, deadlines and open actions.Clear written communication and the ability to work productively with programmers, machinists, inspectors, suppliers and leadership.Comfort learning new systems and using ERP, spreadsheets and technical software to organize work.A hungry, low-ego mindset: willing to learn, willing to challenge assumptions thoughtfully, and willing to own mistakes and improve the process.A Strong Candidate Could Come From Several PathsYou may be an early-career engineer with meaningful machining exposure, a process or manufacturing engineer ready for broader responsibility, or a machinist/programmer/quality professional with the technical ability and desire to move into engineering.
