Salary: $14.29 HourlyLocation : Carrollton, VA 23314Job Type: SeasonalJob Number: 1Department: Parks & RecreationOpening Date: 12/22/2025Closing Date: ContinuousDescriptionThe Junior Counselor is responsible for assisting with daily activities, special events, and programs while supervising and caring for children with guidance from the supervisory staff for the Spring/Summer Programs. Camps are located in Carrollton and Windsor.Examples of DutiesSupervises participants and ensures their safety;Applies disciplinary actions in accordance with the program guidelines;Organizes and distributes equipment and materials needed for the operation of the program;Notes and completes incident, accident, and participant discipline reports;Attends mandatory trainings for licenses and certifications;Answers parent questions and concerns;Performs other related duties as assigned.Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.Physical Demands:The work is medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.Required QualificationsEducation and Experience:Requires at least six (6) months of experience in a child related field and must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.Licenses or Certifications:Required CPR certificationSupplemental InformationProgram Hours: 7:00 am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.Dates of Employment:Mandatory staff training: June 15-18, 2026.Camp dates: June 22- August 14,2026 Camp cleanout dates the following Monday and Tuesday after camp ends.
