Assistant Professor - Graphic Design

The Department of Art at Radford University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. This is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment starting in August 2026.ResponsibilitiesPrepare to teach all levels of graphic design and contribute to portfolio reviews. Perform effectively in teaching, creative scholarship, and service. Other responsibilities include:Collaborative oversight and operation of the graphic-design program and its labSupervising internshipsMentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate studentsDeveloping courses and curriculaContributing to retention and recruitment effortsFostering a positive and productive departmental cultureRequired Qualifications• An MFA in Graphic Design or related field.Preferred Qualifications• MFA in graphic design or related discipline with a record of excellence in user experience design, motion graphics, illustration, immersive experiences, environmental graphics, data visualization, web/interaction, typography, branding, and/or design research.• Expertise in 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling, graphics visualization, and/or digital illustration.• Advanced skills in graphic design and emerging technologies.• Professional experience in graphic design or a related field with a high-quality portfolio.• Teaching experience at the college level.• Record of effectiveness in teaching, advising, mentoring, creative scholarship, and service.Applications will be accepted until filled.
