Senior Big Data Developer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Big Data Developer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Big Data Developer to join a data engineering team responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines. This role involves designing and developing database-centric applications using both Oracle PL/SQL and a modern big data ecosystem, including Hadoop, Spark, and Trino/Starburst, to handle large-scale enterprise workloads.Responsibilities:Design, develop, test, and deploy database objects including stored procedures, functions, and packages using Oracle PL/SQLArchitect and implement complex ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load large-scale structured and unstructured dataDesign, develop, and maintain robust data processing jobs using the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark)Write and optimize complex SQL queries, analyze execution plans, and tune database performanceTroubleshoot production data issues, resolve pipeline bottlenecks, and manage system upgradesTranslate business requirements into logical and physical data models suitable for big data analyticsCollaborate with cross-functional software development and QA teams during testing and release deploymentsMaintain comprehensive technical documentation for all database objects and workflowsRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field3-6+ years of hands-on experience in database developmentAdvanced SQL skills (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization)Strong proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL (Packages, Procedures, Functions, Triggers)Strong hands-on experience with the Hadoop Stack: Hive, Spark, and HDFSStrong understanding of data warehousing conceptsExperience with Trino/Starburst or similar distributed SQL enginesKnowledge of the OpenShift Container platformUnderstanding of Apache Hive and Hive Metastore conceptsExperience with Python for automationFamiliarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub/Bitbucket) and monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsDesired skills:Familiarity with migrating or running Hadoop workloads on cloud platforms (AWS EMR, Databricks, or Google Dataproc)Knowledge of data governance tools like Ranger or AtlasBasic to intermediate knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scriptingPay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!Ranked a Top Staffing Firm in the U.S. by Staffing Industry Analysts for six consecutive years, Genesis10 puts thousands of consultants and employees to work across the United States every year in contract, contract-for-hire, and permanent placement roles.
