Field Application Engineer Title: Field Application Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a proactive Field Application Engineer to act as the technical bridge between customers and our engineering organization. The Field Application Engineer will support pre-sales and post-sales Field Applications activities, deliver on-site integrations, develop and demonstrate solutions, and help customers adopt our technologies.This role combines hands-on engineering with customer-facing responsibilities to ensure successful deployment and continuous improvement of our products. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary technical resource for customers during pre-sales and post-sales engagements, demonstrating expertise in FAE and Field Application support. Lead on-site integrations and deployments, customizing solutions and configuring hardware and software stacks built on ROS and ROS2. Design, develop and deliver prototypes, demos and proof-of-concepts to prove value for Field Applications and engineering stakeholders. Troubleshoot complex system issues in the field, perform root-cause analysis, and implement robust fixes in collaboration with R&D and support teams. Develop perception pipelines and sensor integrations (e.g., LiDAR, stereo cameras, IMU) and tune algorithms for real-world performance. Provide technical training, workshops, and documentation for customers and partners to accelerate adoption and best practices. Collect customer feedback, track feature requests and bug reports, and communicate product insights to product management and engineering teams. Create detailed application notes, integration guides, and case studies that capture lessons learned and accelerate future Field Application work. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field; advanced degree preferred. 3+ years of experience in customer-facing engineering roles Hands-on experience with ROS and ROS2, including building nodes, messages, and deployment strategies in field environments. Proven experience with perception technologies (computer vision, point cloud processing, sensor fusion) and integrating sensors into robotic systems. Strong software engineering skills in C++ and Python, with experience in system-level debugging and performance profiling. Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable leading technical discussions with engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Able to travel to customer sites regularly and work independently on customer engagements. Familiarity with embedded systems, real-time constraints, and cross-disciplinary collaboration between hardware and software engineering teams. Self-motivated problem solver with a customer-first mindset and the ability to translate customer needs into engineering requirements.
